Parking

The Melbourne Market is a purpose-built facility with a variety of parking options for trucks, vans and passenger vehicles to facilitate the efficient movement of fresh produce.

Parking at the Melbourne Market and National Flower Centre

All Market users must submit a Parking Bay Application Form to park any vehicle within the Melbourne Market and National Flower Centre. Users who do no not need to enter with a vehicle can access casual parking in the P1 visitor car park and enter on foot. To apply for a parking bay:

Download and complete a Parking Bay Application Form.

Submit the form in-person to the Customer Service Centre.

The Customer Service team will assess availability of the requested parking bay and if there are availabilities, will allocate a bay. At this time, you will be required to pay for the parking fee and sign a parking permit. Your access card will also be updated.

If there are no current availabilities, you will be notified when parking has been allocated.

A current account and Access Card is required to apply for parking.

Parking permits are transferrable between vehicles registered under the same account.

Vehicles, Market Approved Vehicles, produce, or objects are not allowed to be stored on parking bays.

Flower hand trollies are not to be taken beyond the market gates, including out to the P1 administration car park. For information about parking closer to the National Flower Centre, please contact Customer Service.

A limited number of 24-hour parking bays are available in P7 only. Contact the Customer Service Centre for more information.

If you have been allocated a parking bay that you no longer require, complete the parking bay disposal form and return it to the Customer Service Centre. Please note you will be liable for parking fees up to the date your form is received by the MMA.

Parking design

The Market has been segmented into different parking areas for different types of vehicles. When you can use these areas will depend on the time within the trade cycle. All reserved bays are numbered.

Permit types and prescribed times

Parking is rotated through phases to maximise efficiency for all market users. Use of your parking bay is only permitted within the allotted time according to your parking permit and business type:

Regional Buyer: 2:00am – 7:00am

Seller: 10:00pm-3:15am (Pre-trade) & 7:30am-10:00am (Post-trade)*

Passenger bays: defined according to your business category

24-hour Truck Parking: allocated 24/7

*Sellers with open LCV/truck or NFC bays are allocated the bay from 10:00pm – 10:00am

Loading zones

Reserved parking for fruit and vegetable buyers with a truck or Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) includes an allocated loading zone. Loading zones are on either side of truck bays, or at the rear or side of an LCV bay. Side loading zones are shared equally by the parking bay on either side. The use of shared loading bays must comply with OHS guidelines. Refer to the diagram below:

Please note that:

Produce can only be delivered to a loading zone and is not to be left on any loading bay outside of trade.

Vehicles are not permitted to share parking bays, regardless of vehicle size.
